Alabama Metallurgical Consulting provides independent metallurgical engineering services grounded in more than four decades of practical industry experience. The firm is led by Michael R. Pendley, a metallurgical engineer holding both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering, with a career spanning oil and gas, heavy industry, and failure investigation across a wide range of materials and operating environments.

Work has focused on the real-world behavior of ferrous and nonferrous materials, including investigation of failed components, assemblies, and systems through a combination of field examination and laboratory analysis to determine root cause and contributing factors.

Areas of practice include failure analysis, material selection and specification, heat treatment evaluation, welding and weld failures, corrosion mechanisms, and metallurgical testing and evaluation.

Expert witness support is provided on a limited, selective basis and includes technical consultation, deposition experience, written reports, and objective evaluation of metallurgical evidence. The primary focus remains technical accuracy and defensibility rather than advocacy.
